Drakensang Online is a free-to-play massively multiplayer action RPG that operates on a perpetual live-service model. The game has been consistently active throughout 2026, with major content arriving nearly every month. Season 6 of the Season Pass launched on May 4, 2026, followed by the Infested Sewers of Kingshill dungeon and the return of the Fractured Planes seasonal challenge on May 21, 2026, Season 7 of the Season Pass on August 1, 2026, and the Summer Solstice 2026 festival — introducing a brand-new Shadow Soul, Viridis the Sylvan Treant — on August 13, 2026, just six days before today. Earlier in the year, the Spring Festival (March 26, 2026) introduced yet another new Shadow Soul, and the annual Return of Dragan event (March 12, 2026) brought reworked gameplay elements and new cosmetics. The game's numbered Season Pass structure, recurring annual festivals, rotating PvE challenges with leaderboards, and continuous introduction of new gameplay systems (Shadow Souls, Rift Force/Rift Echo mechanics) all confirm a design built for indefinite ongoing operation. There is no indication from the developer of any plans to wind down content production.
