Evaluation
Drone Wars launched in its current 1.0 form on March 11, 2022, following a major ground-up rebuild released as version 2.0 on June 30, 2021. The game received a flurry of patches and feature updates around its March 2022 launch, with the last developer communication occurring on March 14, 2022 — a patch that also mentioned plans to add more human weapon variety, crouch/vault mechanics, and animation improvements. None of those planned additions ever materialized into announced or shipped content.
Across the game's full history, three major content releases are on record: Larger Content Update 1 (March 18, 2020), the xMas Winter Update (December 24, 2021), and the Drone Wars 2.0 rebuild (June 30, 2021). The gap between the most recent major content drop and today's date (June 25, 2026) is over four years, far beyond any reasonable expectation of continued updates based on the historical pattern.
The developer has made no public communication of any kind since March 14, 2022 — more than four years ago. The casual future-plans mentioned in that final patch post ("we plan to add…") were never followed up with announcements, roadmaps, or shipped content. The sole DLC listed is the Premium Edition cosmetic pack, which was released back on March 18, 2020, and no unreleased DLC exists on the store.
The store description still says "there will probably be more" game modes in the future, but this appears to be static copy that was never updated. Given the complete absence of developer activity since March 2022 and no outstanding formal commitments, the game is effectively complete in its current state.
Evidence
Last developer communication — Patch 2.2.2.8, with a casual mention of plans to add more human weapons, crouch, and vault mechanics. No formal roadmap or commitment was made.
Drone Wars 2.0 released — a complete ground-up rebuild of the game with new networking, playable human class, and overhauled visuals.

About this game

Our goal with drone wars is it to create a fun, simple, but unique and fair multiplayer experience.
What you can expect from this game:
- Controlling the drone is simple and easy, so no flight training needed, just jump right in and have fun!
- No one-shot weapons. Under normal circumstances there are no one-shot weapons, so you always have the chance to put up a fight if you get attacked from behind.
The game currently supports 7 different game modes, but there will probably be more in the future.
- Drone: Team deathmatch
- Drones vs Humans: Team deathmatch
- Drones vs Humans: Wipeout - Survive as human until a rescue force arrives, or as a drone try to kill all the remaining humans before the timer runs out. Every dying human ends up as a drone.
- Drone: Arena - Last drone flying
- Drone: Deathmatch
- Drone: Capture Points - Capture and defend the capture-points
- Human: Team Deathmatch
