Toaster Arena is a free-to-play multiplayer arena shooter that entered Early Access on January 20, 2025, and remains there as of today. The developer, Shadow_hawk, has been actively and consistently updating the game throughout its Early Access period. Since the previous evaluation (June 15, 2026), two more updates have shipped. On July 30, 2026, a major content update (Version 0.34.36) introduced Horde Mode — a new cooperative game mode where players fight endless waves of corrupted enemies — along with a new hover tank vehicle (the UPF Piercer), a character posing system for photo mode, and numerous other additions. This was followed just one day later on July 31, 2026 with a hotfix addressing bugs introduced in that update. Across the full Early Access period, the developer has now shipped at least three major named content drops (Version 0.20.14 in June 2025, Version 0.32.34 in June 2026, and Version 0.34.36 in July 2026), supplemented by a steady stream of feature patches arriving roughly monthly. The version numbering (currently at 0.34.x) remains well below 1.0, and a February 2026 developer note confirmed that certain Patreon features will become free when the game exits Early Access — indicating a full launch is planned but not yet scheduled. There is no indication that development is slowing down. The most recent developer communication was on July 31, 2026, and the cadence of updates remains active and consistent.
