Evaluation

Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers launched on August 8, 2024 and has maintained a strong and consistent post-launch update cadence. Major content updates shipped approximately every 6–12 months: a v1.2 Art & Adjustments update (November 2024), the v1.3 ID Card overhaul (April 10, 2025), the Anniversary Update v1.4 (August 7, 2025), and most recently Update 2.0 "Doubling Down" (July 30, 2026) — the biggest update yet, adding 4 brand new floors, 50+ Lucky Charms, a Daily Run mode, Custom Runs, new cards, a new Unique Chip, and extensive balance changes. The March 31, 2026 developer post from Mike explicitly confirmed a "really big update" was in active development for later that year — and Update 2.0, released July 30, 2026, was the fulfillment of that promise. Since launch, the developer has also grown the team (doubling full-time headcount in April 2025) and completed a full engine migration to Godot 4.4. Following Update 2.0, the developer shipped two rapid follow-up patches on August 10 and August 13, 2026, showing continued active engagement. The developer has not made any statement indicating that development is winding down or that Update 2.0 is the final planned content. Given the established pattern of major updates roughly every 6–12 months and no signal of conclusion, the game remains in active post-launch development.
Evidence
Update 2.0 'Doubling Down' launched with 4 new floors, 50+ Lucky Charms, Daily Run mode, Custom Runs, 3 new cards, a new Unique Chip, and extensive balance and quality-of-life changes — described as the biggest update ever to the game.

Developer Mike confirmed the team is 'right in the middle of working on a really big update for later this year,' skipping the April Fools update to focus on it. This was fulfilled by Update 2.0 on July 30, 2026.

About this game

Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers - A Blackjack Roguelike Adventure

Begin your adventure in a tavern that is home to a unique, corrupted version of blackjack you have never played before. You will need to pick up the rules and adapt to them as you progress through the tavern, challenging a colourful cast of blackjack-addicted townspeople. Pick a suit: hearts for healing, spades to offer you some protection, diamonds for more currency for shop purchases, or clubs for extra damage. Remove cards from your deck as you progress. Pick up more aces and face cards, or fill your deck with tarot cards, business cards, birthday cards, hall passes and more!

Make your way through the tavern challenging patrons, purchasing additional cards for your deck, resting up when your health gets low, opening boosters packs, participating in minigames and much more! Take on the run-based deckbuilding roguelike challenge, with endless possibilities for unique and interesting decks!
