EdgeLords launched on May 2, 2023 and has received a consistent stream of free content updates from the developer: Gauntlet Mode shipped in August 2023, Puzzle Mode in October 2023, and the Pro-Create card editor entered open beta in February 2024. The developer has never charged for DLC and has stated explicitly that all content updates are free. The next major update — version 1.3.1.0 — has been fully developed and is playable via an opt-in beta, but the developer has held it back from a full release due to Unity engine instability. In their June 23, 2025 post, the developer explained that the EdgeLords programmer was transferred to their new project (Smashdolls), and that the revenue from Smashdolls' launch (targeted for around August 2025) would fund the bug-fixing work needed to release EdgeLords 1.3.1.0 properly. Version 1.3.1.0 is described as adding Steam Workshop integration, 2 animated CGs, 20+ still CGs, 3 new characters, 100 card rebalances, and 200 bug fixes. The concern is that Smashdolls' launch window (August 2025) has now passed, and the developer has not posted any update about EdgeLords since June 23, 2025 — nearly a year of silence. It's unclear whether Smashdolls launched as planned, whether it generated the funding needed, and whether EdgeLords 1.3.1.0 has since shipped or remains in limbo.
