Egypt: Old Kingdom launched on May 24, 2018 and received its last content addition — the free "Master of History" DLC — on September 6, 2018, which added an endless game mode, alternative history settings, and other substantial features. All three DLC items are released. Minor bug fixes and a mobile port optimization patch followed in 2018–2019, but no new content has been added to the game since then.
On September 11, 2026, the developer shipped version 2.1.0 — a technical maintenance update upgrading the game to the Unity 6 engine, fixing bugs, adding new language translations, and promoting their upcoming new game, Pre-Warp Age. This is upkeep work, not new gameplay content.
The studio's communications make the game's completed status clear. An October 2025 post explained that sequel work begun in 2019 required an entirely new gameplay foundation, leading to their separate game Next Run, which launched in November 2025. A January 2026 studio update confirmed Next Run has moved into its support phase and outlined long-term plans for future Egypt-era projects (covering the Middle and New Kingdoms) — but explicitly as separate new games, not additions to Egypt: Old Kingdom. An August 2026 announcement introduced yet another new project, Pre-Warp Age, set for October 2026 release.
Egypt: Old Kingdom is a finished, complete product. The developer continues to maintain it technically, but all content development concluded in September 2018, and any Egypt continuation will come as a new game.
