Escape the Backrooms launched into version 1.0 on October 23, 2025, completing its Early Access run. The developer partnered with publisher Secret Mode in August 2025 to support continued post-launch updates, and published a roadmap on October 24, 2025 outlining planned content through 2025 and into 2026. Post-launch development has been consistently active. The game launched on Xbox Series X|S, PC Game Pass, and PlayStation 5 on May 28, 2026, with full cross-platform matchmaking. Nintendo Switch 2 support followed on July 7, 2026. Bug fix patches have been released regularly, including Patch 1.3.2 on June 15, 2026. Most recently, on August 20, 2026, the developer announced the "Plastic Mariana" update — a new level (Level 421) launching on August 27, 2026. This post explicitly states "This is only the beginning," making clear that the developer views this new level as the start of a new wave of content, not a conclusion. The May 5, 2026 roadmap update also confirmed that new levels and optional cosmetics are in active development, driven in part by community research and playtester feedback.
