Ethyrial had a troubled start — it launched on May 1, 2023 under a different developer and failed, resulting in the negative reviews still visible today. A player who loved the game bought it, founded Oath Games, and relaunched it as a free-to-play MMORPG in what the store page calls "Open Alpha." Since then, Oath Games has been actively developing the game at a rapid pace. The development history is extensive. Major content drops include the BloodOath Citadel dungeon (April 23, 2025), the Fire Map Boss Sintirah and a new class overhaul via the Relics system (November 2024), a new Air Map Boss (March 2026), and numerous weapon, armor, and skill system expansions throughout. The studio published a 2025+ roadmap in September 2025 and a detailed 2026 roadmap in January 2026 outlining new character models, smooth terrain, a trading post, combat polish, and continued content additions. As of April 1, 2026 — the most recent developer communication — the team was actively patching the game with new features, balance updates, and bug fixes. The store page explicitly calls the game a free-to-play "Open Alpha" MMORPG with "Active and Friendly Devs," and the developer states they communicate with the community every single day. This is a live-service MMO by design — it is intended to receive ongoing content indefinitely and is not approaching any kind of completion. The game is currently in a very active phase of development with no sign of slowing down.
