Ex-Zodiac

Ex-Zodiac is a solo-developed rail shooter still in Early Access, steadily receiving new levels as the developer works toward a full 1.0 release. Since launching in July 2022, the game has received four major content updates adding new stages: levels 7 & 8 in May 2023, level 9 in June 2024, level 10 in November 2024, level 11 ("Mirage") in April 2025, and level 12 ("Ethuna") in December 2025. In the December 18, 2025 update post, developer Ben Hickling acknowledged that 2025 was a difficult year personally, but stated clearly that the game is "nearing the end of development with only a few more levels to go," expressing the goal of completing the game in 2026. The store description reinforces this, explicitly promising more than 12 levels will be available at full release — the game currently has 11 main and 6 bonus levels. A minor bug-fix update followed on January 3, 2026, the most recent developer communication. The major updates have arrived roughly every 5–7 months: May 2023, June 2024, November 2024, April 2025, and December 2025. As of today (September 24, 2026), it has been approximately nine months since the last major level update, which is somewhat beyond the recent update cadence. However, the developer explicitly cited personal circumstances slowing 2025 output, and the last post reaffirmed the intent to finish — there is no distress signal or silence suggesting the project has stalled. Additional levels remain promised before 1.0.
