Evaluation
Fall of Civilization entered Early Access on September 19, 2016 and has never reached a 1.0 full release. The game is currently not purchasable — no purchase options are available on the store — meaning new players cannot buy it, though existing owners can still download it.
The developer, a solo dev working alongside a full-time job, had a difficult development history. In July 2018, he posted that development had "no end in sight," pulled the game from sale, and announced a plan to rebuild core systems from scratch, targeting a full release by Christmas 2018. That Christmas 2018 target was missed.
Development resumed in March 2021, with the developer posting weekly updates through a beta branch. Over roughly ten weeks (March 19 to June 5, 2021), he pushed updates 1.01 through 1.10, fixing bugs and adding features, with Update 10 on June 5, 2021 marking the last official communication of any kind. That post stated the game was being pushed back to the main store page "very soon" and promised a follow-up update (1.11) to address player feedback.
That follow-up never came. As of today, October 6, 2026, there has been no developer communication since June 5, 2021 — more than five years of silence, following a pattern that had previously seen weekly posts. The game remains in Early Access, is no longer purchasable, and the promised 1.0 release has never materialized. The development roadmap referenced in multiple posts (a public Trello board) has not been updated through any official channel visible here. Whether the developer has abandoned the project entirely is unknown, but the prolonged silence well beyond the established weekly posting cadence makes the ongoing development status deeply uncertain.
Evidence
Update 10 pushed to main branch; developer states the game will be back on the store page 'very soon' and promises a follow-up update (1.11). This is the last developer communication on record.
Game is currently not purchasable — no purchase options are available — indicating it has been pulled from sale again.
