Evaluation

False Mall launched on August 26, 2024 as a self-contained anomaly-spotting game. In the weeks following launch, the developer shipped a steady stream of patches (v1.0.18 through v1.0.27, from August 30 to September 9, 2024) focused on bug fixes, difficulty tuning, anomaly adjustments, and quality-of-life improvements. All 17 developer posts scanned are either bug fix or feature patch notes — none announce new content, expansions, DLC, or future plans. The store description presents the game as a complete experience with a defined ruleset and no mention of ongoing content. There are no unreleased DLC listings and no developer statements pointing to additional content. The post-launch patch activity was concentrated in the two weeks after launch and has since gone quiet, consistent with a developer polishing a finished product at release rather than building toward future content releases.
Evidence
v1.0.26 fixes a critical save-breaking bug. Developer apologizes and promises better testing in future games — language suggesting this is a finished product, not an ongoing project.

About this game

You have wandered into an infinite looping shopping mall in Japan. If you notice changes within the mall, you might be able to escape.

How to Evacuate

  • When all the anomalies are captured, the emergency exit will open.
  • If there are no anomalies, do not capture anything and just open the emergency exit.
  • If you open the emergency exit at 9 o'clock, you can evacuate outdoors.

Features

  • A "Spot anomalies" game inspired by "The Exit 8".
  • Recreating the ambiance of a local shopping mall in Japan.
  • A hint system that shows the location of anomalies. Anyone should be able to complete the game.
  • Auto-save feature. It allows you to pause anytime.

Gameplay Videos and Streaming

Feel free to publish gameplay videos or stream the game without contacting the developer.
If possible, I would appreciate it if you could include the URL to this store page in the description of your video.

VHS Effect

If you don't like the VHS effect, you can turn it off in the settings menu.

Prevention of 3D Motion Sickness

The larger the game screen in relation to your field of view, the more likely you are to experience motion sickness. If you suffer from motion sickness, effective measures include switching to windowed mode and lowering the resolution, or physically distancing yourself from the monitor.
You can also adjust the following settings in-game:
- Reduce the amount of head-bob
- Display the center point
