Far Far West

Far Far West launched into Steam Early Access on April 28, 2026 as an explicitly unfinished game heading toward a future 1.0 release. Evil Raptor has been actively developing and communicating throughout the Early Access period. Since launch, the team shipped Update 1 on May 14, 2026 (the first major content update), followed by feature patches on June 5 and June 12, 2026. A detailed devlog on July 10, 2026 previewed a substantial volume of work-in-progress content: a new sci-fi enemy faction called the Zurkers, two new maps (Hellfire and Redwood Forest), melee weapons, 30+ new Jokers, a new Lighthouse exploration mechanic, and a shield system. On August 27, 2026 — today — the team shipped the Frostburn update (v0.2.0.0), a major content release delivering melee weapons, Lighthouses, a new currency system (Uranium), a shield mechanic, and a large batch of new Jokers. Many of these features were previewed in the July devlog and have now shipped. Alongside Frostburn, the developer published a public roadmap outlining where the game is heading next, and committed to sharing more regular progress updates and devlogs going forward. The development team has also grown, with two new staff members joining prior to the Frostburn update. The version numbering system (currently 0.x.x.x) is explicitly designed to change to 1.x.x.x upon full release, confirming 1.0 is still ahead. Content shown in the July devlog — particularly the Zurkers faction and the Redwood Forest map — was described as early-stage and has not yet shipped, indicating more content remains in the pipeline beyond Frostburn.
