Evaluation
Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster launched on September 8, 2021 as a complete remaster of the classic 1991 RPG. The game shipped as a self-contained, story-complete experience — a remaster of a finished game with no post-launch story or gameplay content expansions planned or announced.
Since launch, Square Enix has issued several quality-of-life and bug-fix patches, with the most substantial being the Ver. 1.1.0 update on January 30, 2024, which added gameplay assistance options, a font toggle, and BGM switching between the original and remastered soundtracks. A further patch (Ver. 1.2.0) arrived on March 5, 2025, with additional bug fixes and minor adjustments. A small bug-fix update followed on October 8, 2025. None of these patches added new story content or game modes — they refined and polished the existing experience.
The only DLC released for the game consists of two standalone soundtrack products: the Original Soundtrack (released January 23, 2025) and the Piano Collections album (released March 12, 2026). Both are purely musical content and do not represent gameplay expansions. No further DLC has been announced or listed on the store.
The developer has not announced any future content for the game. The update history reflects a game that has been progressively polished since launch but is otherwise content-complete. The most recent DLC — the Piano Collections album released on March 12, 2026 — represents the last addition to the game's catalogue.
