Evaluation

Firework is a Chinese horror puzzle game that launched on Steam on February 4, 2021 in Chinese, with an official English version added on December 14, 2021. The game was designed and delivered as a self-contained narrative experience — a single story with a defined beginning and end — and there is no indication from the developer that additional story content was ever planned or promised. The only DLC released is the Original Soundtrack, which shipped the day after launch (February 4, 2021) and is the only item in the DLC list. No unreleased DLC exists. On February 4, 2026 — the game's fifth anniversary — Shiying Studio posted an update summarizing the current state of both the game and the studio. The key points from that post: (1) a Nintendo Switch port is being prepared for release, developed with assistance from an external team; (2) the studio is continuing to develop games but needs more time to build and conceptualize their next project; (3) a previously announced film/TV adaptation did not move forward after the licensing agreement expired. Notably, the studio did not announce any new content for Firework itself — no expansions, no new chapters, no updates beyond the platform port. The Switch port is a platform availability expansion, not new story or gameplay content for the existing Steam release. The studio's statement about continuing game development refers to future, unannounced titles — not additional content for Firework. With a complete standalone narrative, a single shipped soundtrack DLC, no unreleased content, and the developer's own anniversary communication focused on platform expansion and future projects rather than new Firework content, the game is complete as of its English release date in December 2021.
Evidence
Fifth anniversary post from Shiying Studio confirms: a Nintendo Switch port is in preparation, the studio is working on future games (no details yet), and a film/TV adaptation was not renewed. No new content for Firework on Steam is announced.
