Evaluation
Fireworks Mania launched on December 17, 2020 and has been continuously developed by a solo developer ever since. The developer publishes monthly "Developer News" posts and has maintained a steady, well-documented update cadence throughout 2025 and 2026.
The most recent developer communications confirm vigorous ongoing work. As of August 23, 2026, the experimental beta branch has received three feature-packed updates in a single month (v2026.8.1 on August 8, v2026.8.2 on August 15, and v2026.8.3 on August 23). These updates include a completely rebuilt Workshop with a new mod.io SDK, achievements, a new character roster, controller support overhaul, sound occlusion (sounds muffled through walls), seasonal controls, improved dynamic performance scaling, and extensive multiplayer and physics fixes.
The July 27, 2026 Developer News describes a large slate of improvements that have landed on the experimental branch and previews upcoming work, including achievements (already shipped in the August 23 build) and a refresh of the base game characters (also shipped). The developer explicitly frames this as an evolving project with more to come.
The "Firing System" — a feature to choreograph and sequence firework shows with precise timing — has been in development for over a year. As of May 2026, it was temporarily paused in favor of the controller/UI overhaul, but the developer stated it is not abandoned and will resume. The March and February 2026 Developer News posts show active work on it, including a private beta branch for early testers.
The developer has made no indication of concluding development. Communication is consistent (monthly), activity on the experimental branch is currently very high, and multiple features remain in active development.
Evidence
Experimental update v2026.8.3 adds achievements, a new character (Guanaco), improved mortar shell ghost UI, and numerous bug fixes. Third experimental patch in a single month.
Experimental update v2026.8.2 adds sound occlusion (sounds muffled through walls and indoors), a rebuilt Workshop 'Recently Updated' row, controller improvements, and extensive multiplayer and memory fixes.

About this game
FIREWORKS MANIA is an explosive simulator game where you can play around with fireworks.
Play by yourself or play with others in community hosted games.
The built-in Workshop gives you access to thousands of items created by the community, like fireworks, props, maps and characters.
Eventhough the game is created to be a casual game where players have fun for a short while, the game can easily entertain creative players for hours, as they setup a firework show or explore the environments in the hunt for things to blow up.
Not two play-sessions are the same, as the game is heavily physics based, resulting a different outcome every time. This often leads to fun moments, when things are not going as planned.
- Enjoy!
