Evaluation
Five Nations launched on May 4, 2021 and has received ongoing support from SilverForge throughout its life. The Renegades expansion shipped on August 25, 2023, adding a new faction, 76 units, new campaign missions, and more. Since then, the developer has continued shipping substantive updates: Patch 1.2.1.0 (August 25, 2024) introduced a major AI overhaul, new hotkey systems, and an additional skirmish map; Patch 1.2.3.0 (March 22, 2025) integrated the Heroes mod into the official release; Patch 1.2.5.0 (September 14, 2025) added Steam achievements for Chapters 3 and 4; and Patch 1.2.6.0 (October 14, 2025) brought further balancing and technical improvements. The developer's end-of-year 2021 post noted that multiplayer was a long-term goal and that they did not consider the game complete without it — no subsequent post has walked that back or declared the game finished. As of today (October 1, 2026), the last developer communication was on October 14, 2025 — just under 12 months ago. The historical cadence of feature patches has been roughly quarterly to semi-annual, so the current gap is approaching the outer edge of that window. However, no specific future content has been announced, and no developer statement has confirmed development is concluded. The sustained pattern of feature-level updates — not just bug fixes — through October 2025 indicates SilverForge was still actively working on the game. The gap since October 14, 2025 is notable but not yet conclusively beyond the established update cadence, so the active development signal remains appropriate, though if no further communication surfaces this assessment will need to be revisited.
Evidence
Patch 1.2.6.0 released with technical improvements and balancing changes to Story mode Chapter 4 — the most recent developer communication on record.
Patch 1.2.1.0 introduced the Fairplay AI mod, new hotkey systems, and a new skirmish map — a substantial feature update.
