Evaluation
Forged Battalion launched into Early Access on January 16, 2018 under a joint arrangement between Petroglyph and Team17, with the developer promising monthly "Supply Drop" content updates. One such Supply Drop shipped on March 7, 2018, adding campaign missions and new technology. The game then graduated to its full 1.0 release on August 14, 2018, completing the campaign and rounding out the game's feature set.
After the 1.0 launch, no further major content was released. On December 21, 2023, Petroglyph posted an update explaining that they had regained full control of Forged Battalion from Team17 and that they would be able to apply updates "when time allows from other projects." That post included only small quality-of-life and bug fixes, and the developer explicitly framed future attention as opportunistic rather than planned. Most recently, a maintenance patch on November 24, 2025 addressed minor compatibility and display issues.
There is no announced future content, no unreleased DLC on the store, and no roadmap or expansion plans communicated by the developer. The December 2023 post makes clear the game is a legacy project receiving only occasional maintenance attention alongside the studio's primary work. The game shipped as a complete package at 1.0 launch on August 14, 2018, and that remains the appropriate completion point.
Evidence
Petroglyph announced they regained control of the game from Team17 and can apply updates when time permits from other projects. The update delivered only small bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, with no new content planned.
Forged Battalion officially left Early Access and launched as a complete game with 15 campaign missions, full multiplayer modes, and 71 tech tree attachments.

Manage, customize, and develop the blueprints of your emerging faction to create ever-evolving factories and units. Between missions a deep tech tree unlocks components that you’ll use to design combat units. As more technology is unlocked, your designs become more advanced and powerful.
Using resources gained in battle, you’ll unlock new options through the metagame Tech Tree to choose the archetype, armour, locomotor, weapons, and special abilities such as stealth and regeneration that will make your faction one of a kind. Ultimately, you will have access to the most powerful options, including an array of deadly superweapons to launch against your foes.
