Evaluation

Forgotten Fields launched on April 14, 2021 as a complete, self-contained narrative adventure game. Following launch, the developer (Frostwood Interactive's Armaan) actively worked on improving the game, culminating in the v1.6 update on February 6, 2022 — a substantial overhaul of first-person movement, visuals, camera systems, and dialogue pacing. This appears to be the final significant update to the game itself. The only DLC ever released is the soundtrack, which shipped on April 25, 2021. No additional content — story expansions, DLC, or further updates — has been announced or released for Forgotten Fields. Beginning in September 2022, the developer shifted focus entirely to a new game, Unwording, announcing it publicly and then releasing it on April 27, 2023. All developer communication from that point forward has been about Unwording, not Forgotten Fields. The store description presents Forgotten Fields as a complete, standalone experience with no mention of planned additions. The game launched as a finished narrative experience and the developer has moved on to a new project, with no outstanding commitments or announced future content for Forgotten Fields.
Evidence
Developer launched Unwording, their next game. All subsequent communications are about Unwording; no further Forgotten Fields updates announced.

About this game

Sid is a writer struggling with writer's block, attempting to recapture the feelings of inspiration he felt when he was younger. In order to pay the bills, he needs to think up a story and apply for a grant - the deadline is today - a lazy Sunday in the middle of summer.

On this Sunday, his struggle is disturbed by an invitation to attend an unavoidable family obligation - the place Sid grew up in is about to be sold, and his mother wants him to come home for a small party so he can say goodbye to it. With the deadline approaching and his creative juices having frozen, this is not something he's looking forward to.

Talk to old friends, run through the fields, swim in the ocean, and solve relaxing puzzles in this warm, slice-of-life narrative about nostalgia and the passage of time by the developer that brought you Rainswept.

Features:

  • A warm, slice-of-life narrative about nostalgia, appreciating the present, and the passage of time by the developer that brought you Rainswept.

  • Take part in Sid's creative process as you play through a parallel story set in a fantasy world - right out of the book that Sid is attempting to write.

  • Simple, relaxing puzzles that keep gameplay interesting without slowing down the story.

  • A friendly and supportive cast of characters with deep histories and fleshed-out personalities.

  • Cinematic presentation accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack by micAmic (Rainswept, The Cat Lady, Lorelai, Downfall)

  • An atmospheric, warm, and cozy world to lose yourself in as you get immersed in Sid's journey back home.
