Evaluation

FORGOTTEN: THE GAME is a free-to-play psychological horror walking simulator that released on February 13, 2022. In the days following launch, the developer addressed player feedback by shipping a camera hotfix and a subtitles update, and released the soundtrack DLC on March 2, 2022. That March 2 update — which resolved the main outstanding player requests — appears to be the last post-launch content activity from the studio. The developer's own launch announcement on February 11, 2022 made their position clear: they described the release as "the end of an era" and stated they hadn't thought much about what comes next, noting they would "continue learning until the next mind-blowing idea comes to mind." This language strongly suggests the game was conceived as a finished, self-contained experience rather than a platform for ongoing content. There are no unreleased DLC items, no roadmap commitments that remain unfulfilled, and no developer communications since March 2, 2022 hinting at future updates. The only DLC — the soundtrack — has been released. The game launched as a complete product, received a small round of post-launch fixes and its planned soundtrack DLC, and has been content-complete since March 2, 2022.

About this game

A game about experiencing dementia

FORGOTTEN is a psychological horror game about experiencing dementia. Essentially a walking simulator with narration and disturbing imagery. Travel through progressively disturbing environments as a fox in a fantasy world while searching for items that refer to the protagonist's life. Hold each memory close to you as it might fade away, faster than you think.

ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT

This game is meant to entertain and explore a hopeless and unfair situation someone can find themselves in. We started working on it as a side project and immediately fell in love with the concept and wanted to explore it more. So... We remade the whole game with new characters, stories, mechanics, and elements. We hope it has some impact in some way. This game is influenced by "When The Darkness Comes" (Obviously), "Doki Doki Literature Club", "Omori" and many more.
