Frontline Zed launched on October 3, 2019 and received a steady series of major content updates over the following year. The developer published a post-launch roadmap on October 11, 2019, outlining planned updates and delivered on it with notable consistency: Update 1.2 (January 11, 2020) added new weapons and mechanics; Update 1.3 (March 23, 2020) added the ZiGen Science Facility with new levels, enemies, and the NewGame+ mode; and Update 1.4 (April 30, 2020) added the CrimPlex Prison Complex, new weapons, and full ultrawide support. The January 11, 2020 post explicitly described Update 1.4 as a "final" PC update. The store description confirms both the ZiGen and CrimPlex additions as free updates already included in the game. After Update 1.4 shipped on April 30, 2020, the developer issued one optimization patch (May 6, 2020), one minor bug-fix patch (July 15, 2020), and then launched the Nintendo Switch version on August 6, 2020 — which is the last recorded developer communication. There have been no news posts, patch notes, or announcements of any kind since August 6, 2020, and no unreleased DLC exists on the store listing. The developer's own language ("final 1.4 Update") combined with nearly six years of complete silence and a fully delivered roadmap all point to the game being a complete, finished product with no further content planned.
