Fugl has been in Early Access since September 14, 2017 and remains so today. Team Fugl has maintained a consistent pattern of updates throughout this period. Major content drops include the Underwater Update (January 23, 2019), High-Detail Biomes (June 27, 2020), a full graphics engine overhaul called "A New Look" (February 24, 2022), Valley returning to the level set (September 9, 2024), and the Swamp Biome (December 8, 2024). In between these, the team has shipped feature patches covering audio reworks, new mechanics like barrel rolls, improved physics, and performance improvements — most recently in August 2024, which explicitly noted that "a series of bigger updates" were in the pipeline. Every developer post consistently reiterates that "Fugl is still early access, so features are still missing." This is the developer's own characterization of the game's state, repeated across years of updates. The most recent developer communication was on December 8, 2024, roughly 10 months before today's date of October 8, 2026. While this is a longer gap than usual, the established pattern of roughly one to two major releases per year means silence of this length is not unprecedented — major gaps have occurred before (e.g., over two years between the June 2020 and February 2022 updates).
