Evaluation

Full Metal Sergeant launched on April 3, 2023 and received a meaningful post-launch update cadence through mid-2024. The developer shipped a notable content update in May 2023 (Platoons revamp, new events) and again in July 2024 (recruit name customization and Steam Workshop integration). After that, the developer explicitly stated on November 27, 2025 that Full Metal Sergeant 1 "hasn't received major updates recently" and that their current focus has shifted entirely to Full Metal Sergeant 2 — a sequel announced in October 2024 targeting a late 2025 release — and a separate smaller project called Last Card Dungeon. The developer described FMS1 as "the foundation that inspired my current projects," framing it as a completed work rather than an ongoing one. The only subsequent activity on FMS1 was a minor crash hotfix on March 3, 2025, which is consistent with the stable maintenance posture the developer confirmed. There are no announced future content additions for FMS1, no unreleased DLC, and no roadmap pointing forward. The game appears to have concluded its content cycle with the July 2024 Workshop update.
Evidence
Developer explicitly states FMS1 has not received major updates recently, is in stable maintenance, and their focus has moved to Full Metal Sergeant 2 and a new side project. Frames FMS1 as a foundation for future work rather than an active development target.

About this game

You have 12 weeks to turn the recruits into soldiers!

Develop your training schedule. If their Stamina runs out or if their Stress becomes too much, they may fail their training... or worse. More effective advanced training can be unlocked by expending Prestige Points.

Improve your soldiers and earn more Prestige Points when they graduate. Qualify them as riflemen divers, snipers, or paratroopers.

Do you have the right recruit to win a 100m sprint? Or to challenge a naval academy in a swimming competition? What about the marksmanship challenge?

Check your men's skill in mission. Make choices based on the encounters you find. Have you based your training program on agility and close-combat? Then better a sneak approach...
