Gearbits launched on October 9, 2023 and received a healthy run of post-launch content from a solo developer. Within the first two weeks the developer shipped a wave survival mode (October 18, 2023), and in February 2024 released a free spin-off game, Gearbits: Gear Angels, alongside a base-game update adding new maps and characters. The paid DLC expansion "Raider Expedition" — a full 10-mission story campaign with new maps and playable units — was announced in May 2024 and released on October 10, 2024. In February 2025, the developer announced a Nintendo Switch port by Fuze Technologies, which launched on September 25, 2025 and included the base game plus the Raider Expedition expansion. That same post was candid about the developer's current situation: they stated they had "moved on to new projects" and hoped to share those soon, describing their revisiting of Gearbits as something they hadn't fully broken free from. An April 2025 feature patch added minor quality-of-life options tied to the Switch port development. The September 2025 Switch launch post confirmed the Switch version contains the main game and the Raider Expedition expansion, and added a small Steam-side achievement tracker feature. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced upcoming content for the Steam version, and the developer has explicitly signalled a shift of focus to new projects. About this game
Gearbits is a 3D action game where you pilot a giant robot. Use the mobility granted by your rocket boosters to fight massive swarms of vicious giant insects and face off against enemy pilots. Choose a machine and equip it with a variety of powerful weapons.
Your robot has rocket thrusters that allow you to fly across the battlefield and rain fire on the enemy. But watch that you don’t overheat! You’ll be an easy target on the ground.
The story campaign places you into the far future, on a distant colony world. Enemy pilots and swarms of giant insects stand in your way, as you try to complete the various objectives along the story campaign that spans 20 missions.
The game contains 10 units, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Select a machine with outstanding firepower or run circles around the enemy with your superior manoeuvrability.
Over 30 unique weapons to choose from. Equip a missile launcher, a rail gun or a massive beam cannon. You can build a game breaking winning combo, or set up a gimmicky loadout for a challenge run.
In wave survival mode, you can face off against escalating hordes of enemies. Earn credits by defeating enemies and then spend them to gain weapons and equipment to help you survive the next wave.
