Gedonia launched in October 2022 and has received a steady stream of substantial post-launch updates. Three major content releases stand out: the Northern Kingdoms zone (May 2023), a quest and world boss expansion for Northern Kingdoms (November 2023), and the Survival Mode addition (December 2024). Alongside these, the developer shipped multiple feature patches adding systems like fishing, a bard skill tree, an expanded building system, and ram fights. In September 2023, the developer published a roadmap promising additional regions — including the "Black Wastes" and "Uncharted Islands." By September 2024, the developer walked back plans for both zones, citing resource constraints due to work on Gedonia 2. However, on July 29, 2025, the developer announced that the Black Wastes expansion was back in development, with a hired freelancer taking the lead. A February 16, 2026 update confirmed the project is ongoing but troubled: the original hired developer left after 4–5 months of minimal progress, a second team has since taken over, and they are currently working on level design. The developer is targeting a 2026 release but has not committed to a specific date, and has stated the expansion will only ship if it meets a quality standard. The combination of an announced but undelivered expansion and the disclosed development difficulties makes the timeline uncertain. The content is genuinely planned and in progress, but the path to release has already suffered significant delays and team turnover.
