Generation Zero®

Generation Zero launched on March 26, 2019 and received nearly six years of post-launch content, including paid DLC, major free updates, and story expansions. On November 5, 2024, the developer announced that the Showdown Update would be the final update for the game [NEWS-5]. The Showdown Update shipped on December 12, 2024 [NEWS-3], delivering new story missions, a revamped base defense system, new experimental weapons, and a range of other additions — completing the game's narrative arc. A hotfix followed on January 16, 2025 [NEWS-2] to address community feedback and critical bugs. On January 29, 2025, the development team published a formal "Final Dev Letter and FAQ" [NEWS-1] explicitly confirming that active development is complete, no new content is planned, and the development team has moved on to other projects within Avalanche Studios. The FAQ also confirmed the game will remain purchasable, multiplayer will continue to function (as it is peer-to-peer), and procedural daily missions and in-game events will continue to run automatically. All 23 DLC items are released, and no unreleased DLC exists in the store listing. The game is complete as shipped.
