Evaluation

Gensokyo Odyssey launched on April 16, 2024 and has received consistent, substantial post-launch support from its solo developer, Kronington. Since launch, the game has seen two major content expansions: a significant gameplay overhaul in June 2024 (adding boss-specific special minigames, expanded post-game blackjack, new dialogue, and more), and the Kakkoi's Laundromat free update on May 28, 2026 — a large expansion that the developer describes as rivaling the scale of the base game itself, adding an entirely new post-game mode centered on heists and money laundering. In between, an October 2024 v2.0 update added Russian localization and new gameplay systems. Following the Laundromat launch, the developer issued additional patches on May 30, June 7, and most recently August 8, 2026, continuing to refine and improve content. The August 8 Blackjack update, in particular, constitutes a meaningful overhaul of an existing minigame system — well beyond routine bug fixing. In the Laundromat launch post (May 28, 2026), the developer noted that Russian and Italian localizations of the Laundromat content are still planned. No specific next major content drop has been announced, and no statement has been made indicating development is winding down. The developer remains actively engaged, with the most recent communication on August 8, 2026 — just two weeks ago as of today's date.

About this game

After a normal commute goes horribly wrong, you wake up in a strange land with your only weapon being an air hockey paddle.

In this adventure inspired by the Touhou Project, battle through Gensokyo with bullet hell battles reimagined as chaotic air hockey duels, use your non-existent charm and wit to talk your way out of (and into) trouble, and join Reimu and Marisa on a quest to save the world! …probably.

Features

  • Talk to a wide array of characters!

Meet faces both familiar and NEW! (New unless you saw the fanart for this game! Uh oh!) Get dragged into ridiculous situations and schemes, and watch everything go to hell!

  • Air hockey-based fighting?! HUH?!!!! How does that work? Guess I'll have to find out!

Go head-to-head with opponents in an extremely unique combat system; scoring pucks, completing minigames and dodging attacks alike!

  • Live-action elements

Watch Kronington do stupid stuff on film that's it

  • Huge original soundtrack

If you keep on dying, at least you can listen to the cool jazzy 64-track OST by Kronington while you do! Featuring both original compositions and full reimaginings of Touhou classics, you can enjoy hours of funk and bebop solos cheering you on as you graze danmaku!

  • Le funny shenanigans

A lighthearted (not really), absurd journey filled with funny jokes (not really), and an unreasonable amount of references than necessary (really).

  • Multiple endings

Your choices shape how the story unfolds. How badly can you mess this up? Find out in...
