GeoGuessr Steam Edition launched into Early Access on May 8, 2025 and remains in Early Access. The developer has maintained a consistent cadence of numbered developer updates since launch, with Developer Update #10 published on August 28, 2026 — just three days before today's assessment date. The game has received substantial updates throughout its Early Access period: Version 2.0 on October 27, 2025 introduced free Quickplay Solo and Team Duels; later updates brought a Seasons system, Daily Challenge, cross-platform account linking, a GeoGuessr friends side tray, Single Player World mode, and improved navigation. The August 28, 2026 update confirms the team is still actively refactoring foundational systems to bring the full web GeoGuessr experience to Steam, and explicitly teases that Party mode is coming to the Steam Edition. The developer is also evaluating a monthly Steam Pass option. There is no indication of a 1.0 release or content wind-down. The developer is communicating openly and actively, with more features explicitly promised.
