Ghostbane entered Steam Early Access on October 6, 2024 as a co-op ghost-hunting horror game from developer Pi Bit. In the months following launch, the team maintained a consistent update cadence: a launch post on October 7, 2024, a Halloween seasonal update introducing the "Hollow Howl" ghost on October 28, 2024, a Christmas seasonal update introducing "Krampus" on December 19, 2024, and a follow-up feature patch on December 26, 2024. The December 19 post explicitly confirmed the team was actively working on further audio refinements and ghost behavior improvements.
Before Early Access launched, Pi Bit outlined an ambitious roadmap for the full version, including more than 10 maps, more than 20 ghost types, multiple game modes, voice-communication AI, Steam achievements, and more. None of these goals had been formally marked as complete by the time developer communications stopped.
The last developer communication is dated December 26, 2024. As of today, September 24, 2026, Pi Bit has posted nothing for over nine months — a significant break from the monthly cadence they maintained through the end of 2024. The game remains in Early Access with a large volume of promised content still outstanding, but there has been no update, no explanation for the silence, and no announcement of the game's future. This extended silence, against a backdrop of undelivered early access commitments, raises genuine uncertainty about whether development is continuing.
