Glimmer in Mirror

Glimmer in Mirror is a 2D metroidvania currently in Early Access, being developed primarily by a single developer at MapleDorm Games. The game entered Early Access on January 9, 2023, and has been progressing through numbered versions toward a planned 1.0 full release. The most significant post-launch update was Version 0.7, released on March 14, 2024, which overhauled the game engine (Unity 2017 to 2021), introduced a leveling system, a Monster Echo system, new maps, and reworked combat mechanics. Shortly after, the developer announced that Version 0.8 — a new "Frozen Lands" chapter featuring snowy environments, ground and aerial combat, and new boss fights — was already in production. Version 0.8 was originally targeted for 2024 but was delayed due to personal circumstances (home renovation issues and family matters) and the scope of the new aerial combat maps. On December 15, 2025, the developer announced a formal delay, pushing the target to mid-February 2026. The February 16, 2026 Spring Festival update confirmed that nearly 40 maps in the Frozen Lands chapter had completed level design, enemy configurations, and boss battles, with only environment assembly and main story scripting remaining. The developer stated that a closed beta would precede the official release and expressed commitment to completing all remaining chapters and reaching 1.0 in 2026. However, as of June 26, 2026, no further updates have been posted — a silence of over four months since that February communication. Version 0.8 has not been announced as released, and the promised closed beta has not been publicly confirmed as having started. Given the developer's history of delays and the extended silence past the mid-February target window, it is unclear whether 0.8 has shipped or whether development has encountered further delays.
