Golden Treasure: The Great Green launched on June 17, 2019. The developer, Dreaming Door Studios, announced an expansion called Time of Creation shortly after launch, which was released as a free update on April 15, 2021. Alongside that release, the developer explicitly stated: "With this, we consider the story of the Spiritkeeper complete. We will continue to keep an eye out for bugs, but there are no more major content additions planned." This is a clear, direct statement that content development for the base game was finished. Since then, the game has received localization updates (Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese added between 2023 and 2025), a fan art gallery update in July 2025, and ongoing bug fixes — but none of these constitute new story or gameplay content. The developer has also been working on a sequel, Golden Treasure 2: Hierophant, announced in August 2023, and continues to mention that project in subsequent posts, confirming their creative focus has moved on. The only DLC listed is the soundtrack, which was released on launch day. All content for the game was complete as of the Time of Creation free update in April 2021.

Golden Treasure: The Great Green is a hand-painted game about choices, survival, and life as a non-human being. Players take on the role of a dragon and must survive the tender and dangerous years of childhood, forging a path to maturity in the beautiful and deadly world of Earth in the Bronze Age.

To survive, you must hunt prey, fight other dragons for dominance, plunder underground labyrinths for treasures, explore the far corners of the wilderness and, most importantly, grow and learn about the Great Green and its many inhabitants, from birds and beasts to ancient spirits. If you become wise and powerful enough, you may just change the history of our world and the fate of dragonkind.
