Evaluation

Graveyard Keeper launched on August 15, 2018 and received three paid story DLCs over the following years: Stranger Sins (October 28, 2019), Game of Crone (October 27, 2020), and Better Save Soul (October 27, 2021). All five items in the DLC list — including the soundtrack and artbook released at launch — are marked as released. No DLC remains unreleased. The last meaningful update to the game itself was version 1.4, released alongside the Better Save Soul DLC on October 27, 2021. Since then, there have been no additional patches, content drops, or developer communications specific to Graveyard Keeper's ongoing development. On April 9, 2026, Lazy Bear Games announced Graveyard Keeper 2, a sequel. This announcement treated the original game as a completed classic, offering it as a free limited-time promotion to draw new players in ahead of the sequel. This framing strongly reinforces that the original game is a finished product — the developer is moving forward with a new entry in the series rather than continuing to build on the original. All announced and released content for Graveyard Keeper has shipped. The game is complete as of the Better Save Soul DLC on October 27, 2021.

About this game

Graveyard Keeper is the most inaccurate medieval cemetery management sim of all time. Build and manage your own graveyard, and expand into other ventures, while finding shortcuts to cut costs. Use all the resources you can find. After all, this is a game about the spirit of capitalism, and doing whatever it takes to build a thriving business. And it’s also a love story.

  • Face ethical dilemmas. Do you really want to spend money on that proper burger meat for the witch-burning festival, when you have so many resources lying around?
  • Gather valuable materials and craft new items. Expand your Graveyard into a thriving business. Help yourself -- gather the valuable resources scattered across the surrounding areas, and explore what this land has to offer.
  • Quests and corpses. These dead bodies don't need all those organs, do they? Why not grind them up and sell them to the local butcher? Or you can go on proper quests, you roleplayer.
  • Explore mysterious dungeons. No medieval game would be complete without those! Take a trip into the unknown, and find discover new alchemy ingredients -- which may or may not poison a whole bunch of nearby villagers.
