Grindstone launched on Steam on June 20, 2022, bringing with it over two years of content accumulated since its original 2019 Apple Arcade release. Since the Steam launch, Capybara Games has delivered seven major free content updates: The Cosmic Darkside (July 29, 2022), Cosmic Darkside Too (October 21, 2022), Cosmic Darkside 3 (January 13, 2023), Cosmic Darkside Goo-Pocalypse (April 14, 2023), Grind 4 Gold (September 8, 2023), Mystical Mayhem (July 25, 2024), and Cosmic Grind (May 22, 2025). The gaps between major updates have ranged from roughly 3 to 10 months, establishing a clear and sustained pattern of ongoing post-launch content. The most recent major update on May 22, 2025 added a brand-new daily mode. As of today, October 1, 2026, approximately 16 months have passed since that last update — which does exceed the high end of the historical 3–10 month cadence window. However, the developer has never signaled that content development is winding down, and the consistent track record of free updates across three-plus years argues against treating this silence as conclusive. No announcement of a final update or end of development has been made. The situation warrants monitoring, but the overall pattern of sustained free updates remains the strongest signal available.
