Evaluation
Gunjitsu launched into Early Access on July 31, 2015 and has remained there ever since. The developer, Decent Machine, was active in the first few months after launch: a major patch shipped on August 27, 2015 adding a new level, a Race game mode, and a weapon progression system; another patch followed on September 14, 2015 with a chat system, bot difficulties, and a reworked level. On October 9, 2015, the developer posted a status update describing several planned features — including a Horde Mode, improved player movement, and a Quick Join matchmaking system — and mentioned that updates might be "few and far between" due to the team working only in their spare time with no financial backing. That post is the last official communication from the developer on record. No further patches, announcements, or updates have been published since October 9, 2015. The features described in that final post — particularly Horde Mode — were never confirmed as shipped. The game has remained in Early Access with no 1.0 release date communicated, and the studio has not indicated whether development is continuing or has ended.
Evidence
Developer outlines upcoming features (Horde Mode, Quick Join, movement improvements) but notes the team has no financial support and works only in spare time. This is the last known communication from the developer.

About this game
Gunjitsu
Gunjitsu is a fast-paced 2.5D Multiplayer Platform Shooter, where players fight out hectic gunfights in fully destructible levels. Apart from a range of crazy weapons the game features a unique grappling hook mechanic and different styles of jumps that allows players to navigate the levels, dodge bullets and make insane headfirst assaults.Gunjitsu is a game of skill and reflex, and all about keeping your cool. Learn to use the hook to assault and evade, learning to curve rockets, make precise shots, to cover your opponents in hails of well aimed bullets, or to make devastating fly-by attacks. Be the fastest on the trigger, the most acrobatic with the hook. Learn to aim and time your shots like a pro, or outmanoeuvre your opponents with lightning fast hit-and-run attacks. No matter how you choose to fight, these are all parts of mastering the art of Gunjitsu.
The game is heavily inspired by old platform shooters such as Soldat and Liero, and the feel and pace of these games. We wanted Gunjitsu to be all about fun, adrenaline and skill, and as such the focus is on creating an experience that rewards skill in a setting that is both hectic and nerve-racking. Gunjitsu is bringing a gun (or rocket launcher!) to a knife fight.
Challenge your friends or test your skills against the world.
