Heart Fragment is a free-to-play otome visual novel structured as a series of "books." The base game (Book One: Fantasy Fragments) launched on July 30, 2021, and Book Two: Belief Fragments was released as DLC on September 29, 2022. Book Three: Despair Fragments — covering Jasper and Natalia's routes — has been announced and is listed on the Steam store as unreleased DLC, making it the outstanding piece of content the game is waiting on.
The road to Book Three has been long and rocky. The developer originally targeted a 2023 release, then revised that to 2024 in August 2023 due to financial constraints (specifically, being unable to afford the remaining CG artwork for Jasper's route). As of January 2024, the developer was still expressing optimism about a 2024 release. However, a September 2024 update acknowledged that personal hardships had significantly slowed progress, while confirming that Jasper's full route was written and only Natalia's route remained unfinished.
The most recent developer communication, posted on August 16, 2025, provided a detailed progress report: Jasper's route is fully written, programmed, and awaiting beta testing; Natalia's acts 1 and 2 are complete, with act 3 in progress and all CG artwork finished. The developer reaffirmed their commitment to completing the project, describing it as "far closer to finished than not finished." However, no release date was given, and there has been no communication since August 16, 2025 — nearly 10 months before today's date of June 25, 2026.
Given that the release has already slipped past two announced target years, and the developer has gone silent again since August 2025 despite Book Three still being unfinished, there is meaningful uncertainty about when (or whether) the final content will ship. The developer is clearly a solo creator managing significant personal challenges alongside development, and their track record shows sincere commitment but also persistent delays.

A mysterious figure that appears to you and sets the events of the story into motion is a young man named Kay who always seems to have a smile plastered on his face as he reveals strange secrets to you. His friendly personality makes him easy to open up to despite the odd circumstances.
On the other hand, Clive seems to have a knack for popping up at "just the right moment". A string of coincidental encounters combined with his awkward demeanor cause you to wonder what his intentions really are.
With strong elements of fantasy present in this book, a lot of questions are raised and shocking reveals begin.
The second installment to Heart Fragment, Book Two: Belief Fragments, is available as DLC. It has the full routes for Shannon & Lana.
Your established bond with your best friend Shannon makes you hesitant to open up to her about your struggles. Not out of any desire to hide things - you just don't want Shannon to be dragged into a potentially dangerous situation.
Meanwhile, you haven't seen Lana in ten years; not since the death of your mother. Lana looks a bit different now with her dyed pink hair but she's still the same caring girl with a bit of a wild side that you remember from your youth.
Book Two focuses on the reality of things, dealing with matters at a surface level. If you strip away fantasy and leave only belief in those around you behind, what answers will you be able to find?
Coming later on in 2024, Book Three (another free update) has the full routes for Jasper & Natalia.
The antagonist of your story, a man named Jasper Finley, despises you for the history of disputes between your families and an ingrained hatred for mutated DNA. You know how dangerous he is, but... will your curiosity get the best of you?
Natalia is an enigma. Her entrance into your life could be seen as either a blessing or a horrible curse as she introduces both a way out of your struggles and a way to dive head-first into misery.
Book Three reveals intentions and motives that you may have begun to piece together through the previous routes, but what will you discover by examining that evidence from the viewpoint of the villain?
