Evaluation

Hero Defense originally launched on Steam on May 31, 2016 and received active post-launch updates through late 2016, including a Co-Op mode (June 2016), a Lava Falls map (August 2016), a balancing overhaul (September 2016), and a free Halloween DLC campaign (October 2016). On July 31, 2017, the developer Happy Tuesday announced a major shift: they had partnered with publisher Headup Games to bring the game to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and planned a simultaneous Steam relaunch. The developer acknowledged slowing down Steam updates during this transition. The game did eventually relaunch on Steam (it is currently purchasable, no longer in Early Access, and the store page reflects a polished final product). The last developer news post on record is from July 31, 2017. No further content announcements, DLC listings, roadmaps, or developer communications have appeared since the console/Steam relaunch period. The store description describes a self-contained game with a story campaign, procedurally generated enemies, and endless mode — with no mention of upcoming content, season passes, or ongoing updates. With no unreleased DLC listed, no developer statements promising future content, and no post-relaunch update cadence observable, the game appears to have shipped as a complete package following its 2017/2018 relaunch. The last confirmed content shipped was the Halloween DLC in October 2016, with the full relaunch (incorporating all content) estimated around early 2018 based on the July 2017 announcement of an imminent console/Steam launch.
