Heroine Anthem Zero -Sacrifice- is the first episode in the Heroine Anthem Zero series, released on December 22, 2016. Following launch, WindThunder Studio actively supported the game with several free content updates: a story patch in January 2017 adding a new area and boss (patch 1.0.3.0), a Valentine's Day update in February 2017 adding more story content and areas, a second free story update in March 2017 adding Shama story content and a new boss fight, and a fourth free update in March 2018 adding button remapping and bug fixes.
From 2017 onward, developer communications shifted focus almost entirely to Episode 2 (Heroine Anthem Zero II: Scalescars Oath), with development previews beginning in May 2017. Episode 2 entered Early Access in June 2019 and launched its full version on February 22, 2022. The developer's August 2022 statement reflected on the completion of Episode 2's development journey, marking the conclusion of the series' active development cycle.
For this first episode (Sacrifice), the last substantive content update was the 4th free update on March 21, 2018. Both DLC items (the Original Soundtrack and Art Book) are released. No further content has been announced for this episode, and the developer's attention moved fully to Episode 2, which has itself now fully launched. The game was designed and delivered as a complete first episode, with the story continuing in the separately released sequel.
