Hex Empire 3 entered Steam Early Access on May 19, 2018. The developer, Meta Sauce, was active in the weeks following launch — shipping a Linux build on May 28, 2018, a Mac build on June 17, 2018, a feature patch on June 16, 2018, and a bug fix on June 20, 2018. However, all official communication stopped after June 20, 2018. The game's store page still explicitly lists two major features — Campaigns and Networked Multiplayer — as "coming soon," meaning these were promised but never delivered. The game has remained in Early Access for over seven years with no developer posts, patches, or announcements of any kind. There is no indication the developer is still working on the game, but also no formal statement that development has ended. Anyone considering this game should be aware that the promised features have not been delivered and the developer has been silent since June 2018.
