Evaluation

Hired 2 Die launched on January 31, 2025 and has been under active, sustained development ever since. Shortly after launch, the developer (Electric Monkeys) published a roadmap on February 7, 2025 explicitly committing to long-term support, stating "this is just the beginning." The team has delivered consistently against that commitment. A series of feature patches between March and June 2025 overhauled creature AI, added full controller and Steam Deck support, introduced an Accessibility Menu, added Portuguese voice acting, reworked animations across the game, and added a new Story Mode. A Q1 roadmap recap on April 3, 2025 confirmed all Q1 targets had been met and that planning for the next phase was already underway. The first major content update — Anomaly Farm — launched on September 15, 2025 as a free update, introducing a new game mode with its own rules, random modifiers, and a combined roster of creatures from both existing maps. A hotfix followed on September 18, 2025 to address issues introduced by the new mode. Most recently, on May 5, 2026, the developer announced Moonlight Motel — described as an expansion of the Hired 2 Die universe set in 2001, with its own story and new setting. While Moonlight Motel appears to be a standalone companion title rather than a direct DLC for Hired 2 Die, the post explicitly targets the existing Hired 2 Die playerbase and signals continued investment in the broader universe. The game has shipped two distinct major content milestones roughly 7 months apart (launch → Anomaly Farm → Moonlight Motel universe expansion), maintained an active patch cadence, and the developer has never signaled that development is winding down. The most recent official communication was May 5, 2026 — approximately 7 weeks before today's date — well within any reasonable silence window.

About this game

A 1-4 player co-op survival horror where the horror begins when the shift starts. Clean, organize, and contain dangerous creatures using CCTV, motion sensors, and more. Earn your paycheck, upgrade your tools, and capture them—because no one else will.

Work with your friends.

Hired 2 Die is a cooperative survival horror game up to 4 players where otherworldly distortions roam the workplace as dangerous creatures and strange anomalies.

The horror begins when the shift starts.

You were hired by the shady Intersection. Clean the garbage, mop the floor and organize the environment silently in order to not attract the distortions.

Running away is not enough, you need to capture the distortions.

It’s up to you to risk your life using CCTVs, remote doors, motion sensors and other equipment handled by Intersection to guarantee an effective capture.

Interior design is not just for looks!

Use your hard earned money to buy anomalous furniture that grants you perks for all future jobs.

  • Single and Coop play: The game is designed differently for single-player or teams that want to die together.

  • Progressive Gameplay: Even the most ordinary task is permanent and will help you in future contracts.

  • Proximity Voice Chat: Use the security systems and walkie-talkies to plan and communicate with your co-workers, but be careful, they are listening.

  • Keep talking and nobody dies: Coordinate with your friends to fix complex systems using the instruction manual.
