Hive Blight entered Steam Early Access on March 9, 2026, developed by a small three-person team at OptizOnion. Since launch, the developers have maintained a very active update cadence, shipping major content updates roughly every five to seven weeks. At launch, the developers explicitly outlined their Early Access plans: two additional clans that were already teased within the game would be released during Early Access, alongside ongoing additions of more enemies, elites, bosses, events, trinkets, and equipment. Both promised clans have now shipped — the Amber Forge on May 28, 2026, and the Crescent March on August 13, 2026. Between launch and now, the game has received four major content drops: the Early Access launch itself (March 9), a feature update adding new enemies and legendary equipment (April 17), the Amber Forge clan (May 28), three new bosses with new enemy types (July 7), and the Crescent March clan (August 13). Regular bug fix and balance patches have appeared throughout, with the most recent on August 14, 2026. The developers have not announced a 1.0 release date, made no statement that development is winding down, and continue to actively update the game. The original launch post described a vision for ongoing expansion well beyond just the two additional clans, and the pace of updates since launch demonstrates that commitment in practice. The game remains in Early Access with clear ongoing development.

The kingdom is threatened by the mysterious Fungomancer. Unite the clans and face off against this common enemy. Choose unique insect with their specific abilities, focus on their synergies and place them strategically to overcome the dangers that come your way!

In Hive Blight, you’ll start by choosing an alliance between two clans, shaping your available units, equipment, trinkets, and synergies. Each clan has its own playstyle: the Vespadas excel in offense and debuffs, the Silent Cabbale use poison and ambush tactics, and the Sweet Symphoney rely on healing and seduction.

Combine the clan cleverly, like pairing the Cabbale’s ambush with the Vespadas’ brute force, and you might discover combos even we didn’t predict.

Each clan comes with a panel of unique units with each their specific abilities and stats, it’s up to you to make a choice depending on your playstyle and what you get during your run. Focus on the synergies between their abilities to get the best out of each of them!
