Hyper Light Drifter

Hyper Light Drifter launched on March 31, 2016 as a complete, self-contained action-adventure RPG. Its only DLC is a soundtrack pack released shortly after launch on April 13, 2016 — no gameplay content DLC was ever released or announced. The store description and short description contain no references to planned updates, seasons, or additional content. Post-launch, Heart Machine issued a series of bug fixes and quality-of-life patches through 2023, but these were purely maintenance updates. The one major content signal in the news history — an alternative playable character — was incorporated as a free update, not a separate content release. No roadmap, expansion, or sequel content for Hyper Light Drifter has ever been announced. The most significant recent developer communication is a December 24, 2024 post in which Heart Machine announced a Patreon, citing difficult industry conditions including layoffs at the studio in November 2024. This post is focused on the studio's broader financial situation and future projects — it does not reference any new content for Hyper Light Drifter. A January 2025 post promoted a launch bundle tying Hyper Light Drifter to the early access release of a separate game, Hyper Light Breaker, and an April 2025 post announced a merchandise collaboration (a companion plushie). Neither of these indicate new in-game content is coming. The game shipped as a finished product in 2016 and has operated as such ever since. No unshipped content commitments exist.
