Evaluation

Industry Idle left Early Access with its 1.0 update on September 13, 2024, when FishPond said the game had been content complete for some time and that the update mostly focused on polish. The two Expansion Packs shipped on March 20, 2021 and March 28, 2022, and the most recent major content update was a Halloween seasonal event on October 18, 2022. On October 29, 2022 the developer said the core mechanics and content were largely stable and moved the project toward community-driven open-source development with no fixed release schedule. The store lists only the two Expansion Packs, both already available. Since 1.0, the developer's posts have concerned server operations rather than new content. A proposal dated October 25, 2025 described daily player trade limits and the removal of the leaderboard as ways to reduce server and anti-cheat costs, with the decision left to the community. A July 25, 2026 update announced that leaderboards will shut down, that Steam account verification will be limited to players who own an Expansion Pack, and that trading limits for unverified accounts have been relaxed. The developer reports the game has been running at a loss and has been covered by income from the newer CivIdle. The game's content has been complete since its last major update on October 18, 2022.
