Plan B: Terraform

Plan B: Terraform launched into version 1.0 on August 29, 2025, after 2.5 years in Early Access and 6 total years of development. The developer continued refining the game after launch with a series of patches through early 2026. On August 14, 2026, the developer made a major announcement: the "Worlds of Fire and Water" DLC will release on September 23, 2026, priced at $5. It adds two new and distinctly challenging planet scenarios — a volcanic Fire World where lava eruptions reshape the terrain, and a Water World where nearly all land is submerged. Alongside the paid DLC, a free major update (v1.1) will launch simultaneously, bringing substantial new mechanics to all players: a full tech tree replacing the previous level system, vehicle upgrade paths, dynamic ice caps, shade and mirror satellites, ice comets, sea plants and plankton, water farms, smaller ships, airships, and new extraction tools. This announcement was foreshadowed by earlier posts: a March 4, 2026 update confirmed the team was "working on something nice," and an October 2025 post mentioned discussions around a possible big future update or DLC. The August 14 announcement is the fulfillment of those hints. As of today (August 19, 2026), the DLC and accompanying free update are scheduled for September 23, 2026 — just over a month away.
