Evaluation
Factory Town launched out of Early Access on November 17, 2021, and received a steady stream of updates through 2022 and 2024. After 1.0, the developer shipped two major updates: the 2.0 update on June 22, 2022 (Steam Deck support, gamepad support, UI rework) and the 2.2 patch on July 17, 2024 (major performance improvements and airship navigation overhaul). At the time of the 2.2 patch, the developer noted it was done "in preparation for some cool future project" — which turned out to be Factory Town 2: Paradise, announced on March 21, 2025.
Factory Town 2 launched into Early Access on July 14, 2026. The July 13, 2026 news post [NEWS-1] promoting the Factory Town 2 launch is the most recent developer communication about the original game, and it serves as a sale announcement rather than a signal of any new content coming to it. No updates, patches, or content announcements for the original Factory Town have appeared since the 2.2 patch in July 2024 — over a year before today's date of September 18, 2026.
The developer's full attention has moved to Factory Town 2. The original game has no announced upcoming content, no unreleased DLC, and a clear pattern of developer activity winding down as the sequel was built. The 2.2 patch on July 17, 2024 is the last substantive update shipped, and it is reasonable to treat that as the point at which the game's content became complete.
Evidence
Developer announced Factory Town 2's launch and put Factory Town at its biggest-ever 75% discount. No new content for the original game mentioned — the post is purely a sale and sequel launch announcement.
The 2.2 patch — the last update to the original game — noted it was prepared 'in preparation for some cool future project,' later revealed to be Factory Town 2. No further updates to the original have been released since.

About this game
Your goal is to build a thriving village in the wilderness, supplied with a wide selection of food, clothing, tools, books, and magical artifacts that you produce from raw materials.
Worker units can help you move goods between production buildings and markets, but as much workload as possible will need to be automated using mechanical transportation systems. Use a combination of gravity-powered chutes, conveyor belts, railroads, pipes, sorters and filters to route items around the map so they can be processed and sold.
As your earnings rise, you can research new technology to improve your supply chains and grow your civilization. There's no enemies or starvation to worry about, so you can enjoy a stress-free logistics challenge to maximize production and happiness.

- Play through eight built-in campaign maps with unique goals, or start your own customized/random map from scratch
- Build complex logical systems with gates, triggers, and filters to make sure resources get to the right destination
- Steam Workshop features let you customize rules & even create new items
- Unlock magical technology to boost your production buildings to absurd output rates
- Terrain sculpting tools to shape the world to suit your needs
- Creative/Sandbox mode let you build whatever kind of huge factory you want
