Evaluation

Inertia launched in Early Access on September 15, 2017 and graduated to full release on December 1, 2017 with v1.0, which added the level creator, Steam Workshop support, and a new level collection bringing the total to 48 levels. A follow-up update (v1.1, December 29, 2017) added Speedrun Mode, and a quality-of-life patch (v1.18, April 18, 2018) followed. After that, the game received no further major content updates. A community-focused post in May 2019 asked players for feedback toward a potential new project — signaling the developer's attention was shifting rather than continuing to build on Inertia itself. On May 6, 2026, the developer posted a formal announcement confirming that Inertia 2: Definitive Edition — a full sequel built from the ground up — is coming to PC in Early Access in November 2026. This post explicitly frames the original Inertia as a completed, beloved game that inspired the sequel, not a game receiving new content. The developer reflects on Inertia as a finished chapter, noting it has been "still selling, still being played" for nearly nine years. No new content for the original Inertia has been announced. The original game is complete. Its content — 48 levels, the level creator, Steam Workshop, leaderboards, and Speedrun Mode — has been fully delivered since late 2017.
