Evaluation

Interstellaria launched on July 17, 2015 and is a solo developer project by Coldrice Games LLC. After launch, the developer maintained an active patching cadence through 2015 and 2016, shipping multiple feature updates. Development then went quiet as the developer noted they needed to focus on their full-time job due to the game's commercial underperformance. The developer returned with a series of patches starting December 20, 2018 (V1.09), followed by February 25, 2020 (V1.09c), and most recently April 23, 2021 (V1.1). The April 2021 post is the only Tier 1 development status post with a forward-looking statement: the developer expressed a continued personal attachment to the game and a "huge vision" for what it could be, saying they would "keep slow-boating updates" as long as that vision remained unfulfilled. However, that statement was made on April 23, 2021 — over five years ago as of June 28, 2026. Despite the developer's stated intent to continue occasional updates, no further patches, announcements, or communications of any kind have appeared since that date. The developer also noted in earlier posts that they work a full-time job and that the game did not generate enough income to support dedicated development, which established a precedent for very long gaps. Even so, a silence of over five years — with no communication whatsoever — far exceeds the longest gap previously observed between updates (roughly 2–3 years). The developer made no specific commitments to future named content, roadmap, or DLC in the April 2021 post, only expressing a general personal aspiration. The only DLC is the game's original soundtrack, which was released on launch day. There are no unreleased DLC entries. The store description describes the base game features only, with no mention of planned expansions or live service elements. Given the absence of any announced future content, no unreleased DLC, and a developer silence stretching back to April 23, 2021 with no concrete commitments made at that time, the game is effectively complete. The April 2021 patch represents the last observable development activity and is treated as the practical completion point.
Evidence
Developer released V1.1 patch and expressed ongoing personal attachment to the game, stating they would 'keep slow-boating updates' as long as their vision for the game remained unfulfilled. This is the last communication from the developer on record.

About this game

Interstellaria is a real time space-exploration sim and crew management game.

Command a fleet of vessels wandering the galaxy for adventure and profit! You’ll be forced to make tough decisions as you face hostile starships, crippling space anomalies, and intriguing aliens. When your fleet faces certain doom, should you direct your crew to make critical repairs, or report to their stations and boost your fleet?

Land your flagship on an alien world, allowing your crew to gather valuable resources for you— but be sure to equip them with powerful armor and weapons! It’s a dangerous universe out there, and although many helpful creatures will trade or share valuable information with you, many more will attack on sight!

Features

  • Tactical crew management. Direct crewmen to put out fires, or repair damaged equipment. Posting them to their station boosts your fleet's speed and combat abilities.
  • Customize your ship with helpful stations. Allocate power to important systems or simply outfit your ship with lasers and put all power into weapons!
  • Your crew eats, sleeps, and needs entertainment. Each one develops unique traits throughout the game that help or hurt the mission. Various outfits and weapons can be found to customize them further.
  • Fleet-based combat. Instead of controlling a single ship, you control multiple ships each with their own crew.
  • Fully explorable galaxy, no areas are off limits. Each region has unique ships, aliens, and mysteries to find.
  • Land your ships on planets! Each world is a new experience and has special rewards for you and your crew.
  • Featuring an all-original soundtrack from the incredibly popular chiptune musician Chipzel.
