Relentless Expanse

Relentless Expanse, a free 2D space strategy game from Cowmera Games, remains in Early Access. The most recent game update, v0.6.8, was published on July 17, 2026 and added a new map, a new font, and maintenance fixes. That post said the team is eyeing some larger mechanics but must first confirm they are realistic for a free game of this scope. It also said that if this takes longer than expected, smaller feature and quality-of-life updates will be released in the meantime, and that the update paved the way for more content. The developer's June 15, 2025 announcement said the game would be supported until it leaves Early Access, and no later post has changed that. Major content has arrived on January 14, 2025 (launch), June 8, 2025 (multiplayer overhaul), and January 14, 2026 (1-year anniversary update with a new map, new difficulty settings, and new achievements), with additional feature updates on August 31, 2025 and November 24, 2025. After the anniversary update the studio was quiet until May 19, 2026, when it resumed posting and said it was working on a new game. That post described funding as the main limit on progress and mentioned a Relentless Expanse update and event planned around the studio's first birthday on June 15, 2026. The July 17, 2026 post said a more detailed studio update would follow the next month, and no developer post has been published since July 17, 2026.
