ISEKAI FRONTLINE launched on March 16, 2023 as a rogue-like action/shooting game. It received several DLC releases, culminating in the ASCENSION DLC on December 10, 2024. In March 2025, Studio Ginkgo was contacted by Steam and ordered to roll the game back to its 2022 pre-release build, citing content that had been added after the original review submission. The studio announced this publicly on March 23, 2025 and carried out the rollback on April 4, 2025, temporarily leaving buyers with an unfinished version of the game. During this chaotic period, the developer confirmed they planned to re-release the removed content as a free DLC, and also announced a new paid costume DLC that had been in preparation before the crisis. A May 12, 2025 update confirmed the review process was still ongoing and that additional updates and DLC were in development. By December 10, 2025, the game had quietly returned to sale on Steam with the latest build restored — the developer noted this with surprise in a December 24, 2025 post, describing it as a "miraculous Christmas gift." A routine security patch was applied on October 4, 2025. However, the December 24, 2025 post does not confirm whether the previously announced free DLC or the paid costume pack were ever released. The developer has not posted any updates since December 24, 2025. Given that specific content was promised but its delivery remains unconfirmed, and the developer has been silent since that date, the status of the announced content is uncertain.
