Evaluation

Kemono Friends Opening Day is a free-to-play fan visual novel that launched on April 28, 2023. The developer has been releasing the game in chapters: Chapter 2 arrived on June 1, 2024, and Chapter 3 arrived on July 22, 2025 — roughly one year apart. The Chapter 3 release post references that a player's good and bad endings will determine "what happens in the final chapter of the game," and the store description closes with "We look forward to delivering the next chapter of the game when it is ready." This makes clear the story is not yet finished and at least one more chapter is planned. The developer has maintained a consistent annual cadence across two major releases, and as of today (July 27, 2026) it has been approximately one year since Chapter 3 — squarely within that established release window. There is no announcement of a specific release date for the next chapter, but the developer has signaled it is coming.

Evidence

Chapter 3 released, introducing new characters and a bad/good ending system. The post references a 'final chapter' that will be determined by the player's accumulated endings, confirming more chapters are still to come.

About this game

Welcome to Japari Park!

After passing a month-long training program, you’ve finally become a Caretaker at the world-renowned Japari Park! You’ve learned all about taking care of Friends, animals who have turned into animal girls, and their mysterious home, Japari Park, a massive archipelago where every type of natural environment in the world can be found.

But you didn’t come halfway around the world without a reason. You’ve been invited to work at the park by Nana, a Caretaker responsible for two particularly troublesome Friends. Nana needs your help to manage a Serval cat with loads of energy and an Ezo Red Fox with no respect for the rules. If she can’t find someone who can handle them, Nana won’t be able to start teaching part-time at the Learning Center.

Meet the Friends of Japari Park!

As a Japari Park Caretaker, your responsibilities don’t end with Serval and Ezo Red Fox! You’ll meet many more cute and misbehaved girls who will need your guidance in order to live happy, healthful lives in the park. How you choose to handle their troubles and trauma will lead to either good or bad outcomes for these girls, and the fate of everyone may even depend on it!

Kemono Friends Opening Day is a Kemono Friends fan project visual novel where you make friends with Friends and do your best to guide them to a good ending, no matter how difficult things become.

Chapter 3 Available Now!

Play the all new 3rd chapter! Enjoy the biggest mall in Japari Park with Serval and Ezo Red Fox, meet new Friends like Humboldt Penguin and Royal Penguin, learn more about Anubis and Cerberus, see the girls dress up in cute outfits, and help Hululu overcome her past trauma.

Thanks once again to all our hard working team members for their work bringing chapter 3 to life! We look forward to delivering the next chapter of the game when it is ready.
