Evaluation

KILL THE WITCH launched into Early Access on February 17, 2026, offering the first 2 stages of a planned 6-stage game. The developer (a solo dev, ASO/Yuseok Oh, plus a composer) has been highly communicative throughout, posting monthly devlogs and regular patch updates. Stage 3 has been the focus of development since shortly after launch. The developer has shared detailed progress updates each month: the May 2026 devlog (posted June 1) introduced Stage 3's portal mechanic and concept art; the June 2026 devlog (posted July 1) showed work on the "Three Automaton Maid Sisters" mid-bosses; and the most recent devlog on July 31, 2026 showed continued work on those mid-bosses, with the eldest sister Olympia mostly finalized and the other two still in progress. The July 31 devlog also disclosed a schedule change: the Stage 3 update, originally targeted for September 2026, will likely be delayed, attributed to the realities of solo development. However, the developer emphasized that work is ongoing daily and they are committed to seeing the game through to completion. The full release remains targeted for the first half of 2027. In addition to Stage 3 development, the team has continued refining existing content with consistent feature patches and balance updates (most recently v1.4j4 on July 30, 2026). The developer remains actively engaged, transparent about timeline changes, and clearly progressing toward a full release. The game is still well within its Early Access development lifecycle.
Evidence
July 2026 devlog confirms active Stage 3 development: eldest automaton sister Olympia is mostly done, second and third sisters still in progress. Developer discloses the Stage 3 update originally planned for September 2026 will likely be delayed due to solo development constraints, but work continues daily.

About this game

" That’s why I’m here—to smash it all.

Till not even a speck of dust is left. "

In an age when humanity gave up on happiness—just to escape unhappiness—and became nothing but bugs.
This is the tale of a witch who grips her baseball bat tight... and smashes everything in her path.

"KILL THE WITCH" is a hardcore 2D pixel action platformer.
Here, you fight with nothing but your own skill—and the will that drives you forward.

  • Hardcore gameplay to satisfy your thirst for challenge.

  • A cast of unique, unforgettable characters ready to steal your heart.

  • Original pixel art and soundtrack that will captivate your eyes and ears.

The game unfolds in a mostly linear structure of stages and boss fights, built around three core actions—move, jump, and roll— and two signature mechanics: Home Run and Transformation.

Beneath its intuitive and minimalistic controls lies a game that truly earns its hardcore label—with punishing difficulty and a narrative that refuses to go easy on you.

Countless dangers lie in wait along your path—
each one determined to bring you down and make you kneel.

Will you fall here and surrender?

Or take one more step—toward misfortune itself?

This game draws inspiration from many titles I love—
OFF, Cave Story, Momodora, and Touhou Project, to name a few.

But at the same time, I believe it carries something of my own.
Something I needed to express.

Thank you, always.
I truly hope you enjoy the game. :)
