Kind Words launched on September 12, 2019 and has received consistent developer attention ever since. The developer has shipped meaningful updates over the years: a favorites system (September 2023), infrastructure improvements in preparation for the sequel (July 2024), a new sticker batch and server connection to Kind Words 2 (October 2024), a new screensaver and sticker (February 2025), a security/engine update (October 2025), and an engine fix for older computers (November 2025). The most recent developer communication was on February 5, 2026, celebrating 1,000,000 paper airplanes sent and launching a free Kind Words 2 demo. A defining feature of the game's current state is its shared server with Kind Words 2, which launched on October 7, 2024. The developer explicitly stated on July 26, 2024 that this shared infrastructure reflects "our commitment to supporting both games for a long time." Every new sticker added to Kind Words 2 also flows automatically into the original, and the two games share the same player community. The February 2026 post confirmed the original game remains active, with around 7.3 million total user submissions over six years. The November 2025 patch notes also mentioned upcoming "cool new screensaver features" for Kind Words 2 — which, given the shared sticker pipeline, will likely benefit the original as well.
